Co-founding an Edtech AR app

Due to the COVID Crisis, India's edtech boom seemed unstoppable. This was to combat the lack of accesible + immersive teaching practices to supplant the diverse needs of the students. My team and I set out to use advanced Augumented Reality technology to bridge this gap while keeping online learning as efficient as offline.

We built a platform that schools could purchase. For students, we provided an app where students could learn through AR, take tests, and track achievements. For teachers, we provided a platform to conduct group learning sessions and track test results.

In a study, non-app users scored 36% less on the subject related test. This can be attributed to difficulty in remembering technical details and time-sensitive memory. Our app students showed more positive emotions exciting and inspiring to learn more about gardening.

Our Process

1. USER RESEARCH

20 AR/VR heuristic analysis; 20 students + 10 teacher interviews; 5 contextual walkthroughs

2. DESIGN ITERATION

30 ideations; Figma + Blender; Concept evaluations and iterations (w/ students, teachers, advisors).

3. DEVELOPMENT

Unity 3D with AR Core API for XR development. Spring boot for backend with C# front-end.

4. VALIDATION TEST

12 student validation testing powerpoint presentations (Control group) vs our platform (Focus group).
